Hatching a Better Democracy

There’s a lot we disagree on in this country. But as responsible citizens we can’t allow ourselves to be manipulated by fear and hate — especially by people who gain power or money from our fear and hatred. In this project, we’ve developed a list of fourteen fundamental democratic values worth examining together.

The Videos are completely nonpartisan. Every topic is one that Americans of all backgrounds can agree on.
The Values Discussion takes the same approach — a simple description of the basic values we cherish as American citizens. And, if you disagree with any of it, let us know! Ask questions. But please try to keep it civil — this is all about finding common ground.
And the Quiz is the fun part. We’ll give you 28 scenarios that show how these basic values can sometimes be in conflict with each other. And then (if you want) we’ll show you how your choices stack up against some public figures.
